Flash Fiction

Romulus was a hermaphrodite.  He had seven offspring. All were conceived and born after his death. All hermaphrodites.

They knew his memories and added their own to his collective, developing a grand design, bathed in the stone of history.  When they were satisfied that they had contributed all they could, they would let themselves wither and die, and their children carried on the gathering.

When Romulus returned from a state of death, informed by the almost infinite collective, he found that human kind was gone and he was the father of a new race, Homo Logicus, and he was proud.
